Keeping you informed of latest developments and releases

What’s new November 2014

AlignCare continues to make improvements to the PrescienceRx healthcare analytics solution. These updates will roll out to customers beginning today. This is part of our commitment to the continuous improvement of our product. If you missed our previous announcement, you can read it here.

This update includes several improvements to the PrescienceRx dashboard per the feedback from our beta program. The improvements include enhanced emergent conditions, reduced redundancy of drug information, an improved compliance calculation, and more granularity of metrics. Plus we have added a couple of bonus features: including viewing historical trends from the Patient Profile and strengthening security on user accounts.

Enhanced Emergent Conditions

We have broken our emergent condition alerts into two classifications. These are “New Diagnosis Group” and “Within Diagnosis Group”. These alerts with provide insight into those people that have developed new diseases and conditions versus those developing conditions related to an existing diagnosis.

These also appear among the Implied Diagnoses.

Reduced Redundancy of Drug Information

The Patient Profile includes a complete history of the prescriptions filled by each individual. In prior versions of PrescienceRx, these drugs were aggregated and analyzed by NDC. We had found though, that physicians often prescribe similar versions of the same drug; i.e. in differing forms or strengths. With this upgrade of PrescienceRx, drugs are grouped by their name, greatly reducing the amount of redundant information listed on the profile. Of course, all individual prescriptions are still accessible via the Prescription History.

Improved Compliance Calculation

PrescienceRx now takes the days supply of a prescription in account when determining a patient has potential adherence issues taking their drugs. The software finds the latest fill date for each prescription and then computes a time frame from that date that is twice the days supply. If the patient has not refilled their prescription is this time, they are flagged as having a potential compliance issue.

Granularity of Metrics

In order to provide more granularity when identifying patients for care. And to eliminate any confusion caused by metrics having different scales. We have changed the scaling of the Polypharm, Polyprescriber, and Therapeutic Complexity measures from three levels to five. The five levels are Very Low, Low, Moderate, High, and Very High. This aligns these three measures with the Predicted Expense and Coordination Risk metrics.

Viewing Historical Trends

The Historical Trending of metrics is one of the most powerful visuals in PrescienceRx. This view shows in vivid color how an individual’s status is changing by showing a map of their key metrics. Previously, this was only available from the Search page. With this latest upgrade, the Historical Trends are easy accessible from every Patient Profile.

Strengthening Security of User Accounts

We have increased the security on accounts in a couple of important ways. First, every user will be required to have a strong password. Strong passwords must be at least eight characters long and contain a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. Also, everyone’s password will expire and must be changed at regular intervals. Passwords will expire every 120 days. Note: the 120 day timeframe is a customizable setting, each firm can reduce or increase this time according to their needs.
